As an admitted student to Mount Saint Mary’s, you will receive housing information as part of your admission package. The primary emphasis of Residence Life is to facilitate close personal relationships between students of many cultural backgrounds and experiences to foster the formation of personal values and integrity. We provide a comfortable living environment to enhance residents' educational pursuits and opportunities for interaction and celebration — enabling residents to establish their own spirit of community and to participate in the many enriching programs and community offered by Mount Saint Mary's University.

Living on campus is a very impactful way to become engaged in all the Mount has to offer. At ¹ú²ú´«Ã½, we are committed to creating a residential experience that enhances your educational pursuits.

Living on campus at Mount Saint Mary’s University includes your housing and food in one, combined rate per semester. We’ve included both semester and full-year pricing for your reference.

You may choose the meal plan that works best for you. Each July, Food Services sends all residents a link to the meal plan selection form online. If you decide to change, you may do so within the first two weeks of each semester. We invite you to learn more about our meal plans.

What to Bring

Here’s a handy list of key items to bring with you as you embark on your academic journey at Mount Saint Mary’s in Los Angeles. Please note we’ve also included a list of what not to bring!

 

You’ll also want to consider getting personal property insurance in the event one or more valued personal items go missing. The University cannot be responsible for any loss of personal items while living in on-campus housing.

  • Bed (Twin XL)
  • Dresser
  • Closet
  • Desk and Chair
  • Telephone with voicemail services
  • Ethernet connection to the internet and wireless internet
  • Fans for rooms that do not include air conditioning

  • Bed linens (Twin XL)
  • Blankets or comforter
  • Pillows
  • Bath towels
  • Desk lamp (please, no halogen lamps)
  • Room decorations
  • First-aid kit
  • Needed medical prescriptions
  • Clothes hangers
  • Personal toiletries and care products
  • Shower shoes/sandals
  • Laundry basket and detergent
  • Your personal computer and printer, with flash drive and UL-approved surge protector

  • Small television (no larger than 32 inches)
  • Mini fridge (no larger than 3.5 cubic feet)
  • Audio system (ideally, one that works with your mobile phone or computer)
  • Sewing kit
  • Ethernet cord or USB cord (this may be needed to connect your wireless printer to your computer)
  • Air-circulating fan (tower or oscillating)
  • Electric hot water kettle, with automatic shut-off
  • Single-serve coffee maker (ex. Keurig)
  • Clothing iron
  • Hair styling items (curlers, flat irons, handheld blow dryers)
  • Battery-operated decorative lighting
  • Area rugs

  • Electric food preparation devices (hot plate, burner, skillet, slow cooker, rice cooker, air fryer, waffle maker, electric griddle, bread maker, food processor, juicer, blender, indoor grill, mixer, pressure cooker)
  • Microwaves or microwave ovens
  • Freezers and/or ice makers of any size
  • Candles and incense – no flame-based items whatsoever
  • Halogen lamps, sunlamps
  • Plug-in air fresheners or wax melts
  • Portable air conditioning units
  • Don't bring Wi-Fi routers, hubs or hotspots
    • When you introduce another wireless signal that competes with ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ wireless, you create a bad wireless experience for everyone.
  • Don't set up your printer's wireless features in your residence hall room
    • By setting up wireless printing, your printer will broadcast signals that interfere with ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ wireless. Instead, use a USB cord or Ethernet cord to connect to your printer.
