Required Fieldworkâ¶Ä‹/Internship for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) Program

The
¹ú²ú´«Ã½ Administrator Performance Assessment (CalAPA) is a required component of the
Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) program, designed to assess the readiness of aspiring school administrators to lead in K-12 educational settings.
CalAPA is a performance-based assessment developed by the
California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to ensure that candidates possess the skills and knowledge needed to effectively lead schools and improve student outcomes.
The CalAPA program includes:
Three Leadership Cycles: Candidates must successfully complete three interconnected leadership cycles, each focusing on different aspects of school administration. These include:
-
Cycle 1: Analyzing Data to Inform School Improvement and Promote Equity
-
Cycle 2: Facilitating Communities of Practice
-
Cycle 3: Supporting Teacher Growth
Each cycle requires candidates to demonstrate competency in using data, fostering collaboration, and supporting teachers to improve instruction.
-
Embedded in PASC Coursework: CalAPA tasks are integrated into the PASC curriculum, ensuring that candidates receive comprehensive instruction and support as they complete each leadership cycle.
-
Mentorship and Support: Candidates receive guidance from experienced fieldwork supervisors and faculty members throughout the assessment process, helping them to successfully navigate the leadership cycles and prepare their submissions.
-
Assessment for Credentialing: Successful completion of all three CalAPA cycles is required for candidates to earn their Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, ensuring they are prepared to meet the challenges of school leadership in ¹ú²ú´«Ã½.
- The CalAPA program ensures that
aspiring administrators are thoroughly prepared to lead with confidence, using data-driven decision-making, collaboration, and support to foster school improvement and student success.â¶Ä‹â€‹
