Induction Program to Clear
Welcome to our Induction Program! Induction is designed to provide a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning. It begins in a teacher’s first year of teaching. We are excited to offer preliminary credentialed teachers two pathways for clearing your multiple subjects, single subject or special education credential.
For early career teachers with less than five years of classroom experience, you can clear your credential via our two-year, 7 unit program. This program involves weekend seminar sessions. Seminars take place online on six Saturday mornings per semester from 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. You will also meet with an onsite mentor for a minimum of one hour per week.
For experienced teachers (five years or more full-time teaching experience), you can clear your preliminary credential via our accelerated Early Completer Option, a one-year, 5.5-unit program. This program involves weekend seminar sessions online. These meetings take place on six Saturday mornings per semester from 8 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. You will also meet with an onsite mentor for a minimum of one hour per week. This program is available to teachers who have completed five (5) years of full-time teaching and recommended as exceptional teachers by their principals via the Accelerated Evaluation Form for Exceptional and Experienced Teachers (completed during the admissions process).
The Induction Program will identify and assign a mentor to each participating teacher within the first 30 days of the participant’s enrollment in the program (defined by 国产传媒 as the first day of seminar), matching the mentor and participating teacher according to credentials held, grade level and/or subject area, as appropriate to the participant’s employment. Each participating teacher receives an average of not less than one hour per week of individualized support/mentoring coordinated and/or provided by the mentor.
Goals for each participating teacher will be developed within the context of the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) within the first 60 days of the teacher’s enrollment in the program. This process will be elaborated upon and guidance will be provided during seminar meetings. The ILP must be designed and implemented solely for the professional growth and development of the participating teacher and not for evaluation for employment purposes.

+Master of Science in Education – Instructional Leadership or Individually Designed Program
You may also choose to complete your clear credential work concurrently with a Master of Science in Education degree for experienced teachers (30 units total).
Depending upon your work history and interests, you may choose to enroll in our Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Leadership (for teacher leaders) or tailor your own educational path with our Individually Designed Program option. An advisor can help you determine which master’s emphasis and course plan is right for you. Four (4) graduate units completed as part of the Induction Program would count towards any of the two master’s program.
Admission to the master’s programs requires a separate application and additional application requirements. Make an appointment with an advisor to learn more. Call 213-477-2620.
Please note that the Induction Program to Clear Credential is a job-embedded program that focuses on mentoring and support. You must hold a preliminary teaching credential and be employed as a teacher in order to complete the Induction program.
As a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) approved Program, Mount Saint Mary’s University is able to recommend you for the California Clear Credential upon successful completion of the program.
