Mount Saint Mary's University held a special commencement ceremony at the Doheny Campus on October 2, 2024, honoring the 20th graduating class of its Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The program, which graduated its first class in 2005, saw 25 students cross the stage, adding to the growing number of 国产传媒-trained physical therapists dedicated to making a difference in their communities.
The ceremony’s keynote address was delivered by faculty member Benjamin Cornell, PT, MPT, PhD, who praised the graduates for their perseverance and commitment.
Student speakers Matthew Davis and Rachael Eubanks shared reflections on their time in the program, highlighting both the challenges and triumphs of their journey, and their path forward as new physical therapists. “Our role as physical therapists is more than just helping people and treating symptoms. It is about listening to stories, understanding struggles and empowering towards better health,” Eubanks said.
Davis echoed this sentiment, adding, "Our profession is about people and caring for them through their personal experiences with pain and injury, and guiding them through that process as they take their lives back and return to doing the things that they love. And for that job, I don’t know anyone better equipped that the DPT Class of 2024.”
The DPT program at Mount Saint Mary’s continues to grow, with graduates working in diverse healthcare settings across the country. The 2024 ceremony celebrated not just the accomplishments of the 25 new physical therapists, but also the legacy of a program that has made a lasting impact on healthcare for nearly two decades.
