Scholars in this Master of Science (MS) program are guided to excel as champions of learners who are deaf and hard of hearing. They will acquire the expertise to teach and support the listening and spoken language development of children and youth from infancy to 22 years old. It is an engaging and exciting pursuit of specialized education.

The program focuses on quality education practices, brain plasticity research and state-of-the-art digital hearing technology. Scholars will explore perspectives from fascinating fields including audiology, counseling, speech language and occupational therapy. The appealing coursework emphasizes a family centered and interdisciplinary approach

Guidance from full-time faculty at  (JTC), world-renowned for its listening spoken language services, fosters learning and leadership. Completing this program involves eight semesters of study that includes a breadth of experiential fieldwork and a short, required summer course at JTC in Los Angeles. 

Tuition funding is generous and available through federal or state grants and private scholarships. Program graduates trained and mentored by 国产传媒 and JTC are highly sought-after for career opportunities in multiple roles and settings. All scholars obtain jobs before graduation!

Course Requirements

The DHH credential program at Mount Saint Mary’s University is an 8-semester, distance learning program that requires the completion of 47.5 units to receive both the credential and master’s degree. The program also includes a breadth of experiential fieldwork and a short, onsite summer course at the John Tracy Clinic in Los Angeles.

*The Preliminary and Induction Teacher Preparation Programs meet the standards for and have been approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), leading to a California Preliminary or Clear Teaching Credential.  Students who wish to practice in a state other than California will have additional licensing requirements to complete prior to practicing in a state outside of California.
