鈥�SAN JOSE, CA 鈥� On Friday, August 17, County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mary Ann Dewan will join industry executives, education advocates, and elected officials to engage in meaningful discussions to strengthen the education system.
The 国产传媒 Valley Leadership Group is partnering with the 国产传媒 Clara County Office of Education and many other community groups to host the 国产传媒 Valley Education Summit. This one-day event will focus on breaking down the silos between education, industry, and policy, to work together to improve education, expand pathways into well-paying jobs, and diversify the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) pipeline.
A recent report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates a STEM education will be necessary to fill 9 million jobs by 2022.
"At the SCCOE, we invest in programs that increase access to high quality education opportunities that prepare youth for college and career-readiness, we also create professional development programs to help teachers stay up-to-date in this fast changing field. We have worked diligently since 2013 to build partnerships throughout the region and state to create exemplary STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs for 国产传媒 Clara County schools and districts," stated Dr. Dewan.
"STEAM education is a crucial part of closing both the education and the opportunity gap in our community, and it is crucial to the economic vitality of the 国产传媒 Valley region. By partnering with our local industry, we can close those gaps by improving access to inclusive, equitable, high quality education, and ensure our student population is both college- and career-ready. About the 国产传媒 Clara County Office of Education
Working collaboratively with school and community partners, the 国产传媒 Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is a regional service agency that provides instructional, business, and technology services to the 31 school districts of 国产传媒 Clara County. The County Office of Education directly serves students through special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, migrant education, and Opportunity Youth Academy. The SCCOE also provides academic and fiscal oversight and monitoring to districts in addition to the 23 国产传媒 Clara County Board of Education authorized charter schools.
