Counseling Psychology at Mount Saint Mary's University

The Counseling Psychology programs at Mount Saint Mary’s University are highly collaborative and inclusive programs designed to train students who wish to make a positive impact working with individuals, families, schools, nonprofit organizations and community agencies. Specifically, our counseling psychology programs prepare students to serve individuals from underserved communities; and our faculty and student body enhance our students’ learning experience by providing them with a variety of worldviews and cultural perspectives to inform their practice. Our small class sizes also allow our students to connect with professors and receive individual attention and mentorship to ensure that they get the most out of their education.

Whatever your goals, our counseling psychology programs will provide you the flexibility and support you need to ensure that you graduate with the master's degree —and specialization — that is right for you.

Counseling Psychology degree specializations

Degree candidates can choose from two specializations:

    M.S. in Counseling Psychology (General)

    The two-year, 36-unit General Counseling Psychology specialization at Mount Saint Mary's University allows students to develop into change agents who use their counseling and advocacy skills to serve various populations in nonprofit and educational organizations.

  • Students walking outside

    M.S. in Counseling Psychology - Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)

    The 60-unit Marriage & Family Therapy specialization at Mount Saint Mary's University provides students with the educational qualifications to apply for licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy in California.

Together with your faculty advisor, you will tailor a program of study to fit your individual interests and goals.
