Mount Saint Mary’s University is ushering in a historic year as it begins its 100th anniversary celebration, a yearlong tribute that will continue through Commencement 2026. To mark the milestone, the University has launched a dedicated website, msmu.edu/100, inviting the community to reflect on its past, celebrate its present, and imagine its future. The site features an interactive timeline, archival photos, videos, and a special-edition merchandise store, offered in partnership with the campus bookstore, with limited apparel and keepsakes to commemorate the centennial.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for our community,” said President Ann McElaney-Johnson, PhD. “We have accomplished so much in our first century, fueled by the mission and vision of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. This centennial is a time to honor Mount Saint Mary’s proud legacy and build an even brighter future.”
The 100th anniversary is also being celebrated across Los Angeles through a bold citywide visibility campaign. Eye-catching bus wraps and street pole banners, featuring messages such as “The University of Unstoppable” and “This is Your Sign to Become Unstoppable,” showcase the Mount community’s spirit and the University’s dedication to empowering future leaders. Positioned throughout the city, these visuals extend the celebration beyond campus and invite Angelenos to share in this milestone moment.
“Our 100th anniversary is a point of pride among our students, faculty, staff and alumnae, and we will have a variety of new engagement opportunities throughout the year, including a time capsule in the spring, and culminating at Commencement 2026,” said Debbie Ream, senior director of external and community relations and communications, and chair of the 100th Anniversary Committee.
On October 11, the University will host its 100th聽Anniversary Homecoming Gala, an elegant evening to reunite, reminisce, and raise a glass to 100 impactful years of Mount Saint Mary’s. The gala will honor our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, for their dedication to women’s education as they live out their charism to bring all together through love.
As Mount Saint Mary’s embarks on this landmark year, the University invites everyone — students, alumnae, faculty, staff, and the broader community — to join in the celebration.
