Mount Saint Mary’s University is preparing to celebrate its most significant milestone yet: 100 years of academic excellence, student success and a commitment to the community.

Beginning in July, the year-long centennial celebration will highlight the University’s rich history while

looking forward to an even brighter future. Students, alumnae, faculty, staff and friends are invited to join in the festivities, which will feature special events, commemorative projects and opportunities to connect with the Mount’s past, present and future.

“We have accomplished so much in our first century, fueled by the mission and vision of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet,” said 国产传媒 President Ann McElaney-Johnson. “The centennial is a time to honor Mount Saint Mary’s proud legacy and build an even brighter future. This marks the beginning of a new era for our University.”

 A Cinematic View of the Mount’s History

A documentary directed by Mary Trunk, a faculty member from the University’s film department, will be a centerpiece of the celebration. This compelling film will explore the Mount’s century-long impact on Southern California as well as the alumnae who have taken the Mount’s mission with them to live and work around the world.

Through personal stories and reflections, the film will showcase how the Mount has empowered generations of women to become leaders.

“Mount students and graduates are unstoppable, and this film explores how they get there — not only the hurdles they often overcome to get to college, but the development and growth into their power,” professor Trunk explains. The documentary will premiere at a special screening in September.

A Keepsake for the Ages

In honor of this milestone, Mount Saint Mary’s will release a 100th anniversary special publication in fall 2025. This beautifully designed volume will capture the rich tapestry of the University’s history, featuring a detailed timeline of significant events as well as an entertaining look at nostalgic memorabilia.

Homecoming Gala

A highlight of the centennial will be a Homecoming Gala on October 11, 2025. The gala will be a joyful occasion to celebrate our unstoppable community, reconnect with fellow alumnae, faculty and staff, and reflect on the Mount’s profound legacy over the past 100 years.

Looking Ahead to the Next Century

While the centennial is a time for reflection, it is also an opportunity to plan for the future. As part of the celebration, the University will unveil new initiatives focused on academic innovation, community engagement and institutional advancement — ensuring that the Mount’s mission continues to thrive for the next 100 years.

With a full year of exciting events and initiatives, the centennial will be a celebration of community, connection and innovation. All are invited to be part of the festivities.
