Mount Saint Mary’s University students Nicole Azcui ’28, Vivian Hurskin '25, Katia Montiel '26 and Bianca Zelaya '26 participated in an international business program this summer at Hochschule RheinMain in Wiesbaden, Germany. The weeklong program brought together students from around the world to collaborate on real-world business challenges. The Mount’s office of Career and Professional Development facilitated the partnership with Hochschule RheinMain and sponsored travel and accommodations for the participating students.

Working in international teams, Mount students brainstormed, developed strategies and presented their final solutions to professors and representatives from Seibert Group Media, a German company seeking support with their marketing strategy. Students were able to gain real-time feedback on their proposals from industry leaders and executives.

For Nicole Azcui ’28, a Business Administration major with an emphasis in Marketing, the experience underscored the value of listening to and working with diverse perspectives. “Collaborating with an international team taught me how to approach projects with a broader, global mindset,” said Nicole. She shared that the experience also expanded her career possibilities, helping her consider new internship and job opportunities she hadn’t previously explored.

This program is one example of the Mount’s (M)POWER initiative in action by providing meaningful professional development, leadership opportunities and experiential learning. By connecting classroom knowledge with hands-on experience, (M)POWER ensures that Mount graduates are well-equipped to thrive in a diverse and evolving workforce.

Beyond the classroom and industry project, the summer program also offered opportunities to explore the rich culture in Germany.  “Meeting students from different countries and learning about their cultures and perspectives was such a transformative experience,” said Katia Montiel ’26.

Leezel Ramos, MEd, executive director for Career and Professional Development, emphasized the long-term value of these global opportunities. “International training gives students practical experience — they learn to collaborate, problem solve and communicate in diverse teams. Skills that are invaluable for their future careers,” said Leezel.

By investing in opportunities like the Hochschule RheinMain partnership, Mount Saint Mary’s underscores its commitment to providing transformative learning experiences that empower students academically, professionally and personally. As Nicole reflected, one of her most valuable takeaways came from the way her team approached creative problem-solving. “I will carry this experience into my professional life,” she said.

Opportunities like this are made possible thanks to the generosity of alumnae and donors, whose support helps open doors to transformative experiences for Mount students.
