Mount Saint Mary’s University hosted its annual Admitted Students Day on Saturday, April 6, at the Chalon Campus. Over 320 admitted undergraduate students plus their guests had the opportunity to get a taste of what the Mount education experience is all about. From touring campus, residence halls and classrooms, to connecting with faculty, staff and current students, prospective students gained valuable information and resources to help them make their final college decision.
The event kicked-off with a welcome message from Mount Saint Mary’s President Ann McElaney-Johnson, PhD, before students and their guests broke off into different informational sessions, panels and interactive activities throughout the day to learn about life in and out of the classroom at Mount Saint Mary’s.
“The energy and excitement from our admitted students were contagious,” said Susan Dileno, MBA, vice president of enrollment at Mount Saint Mary’s University. “Our current students, faculty and staff came out to support in droves and were eager to share their perspectives on life at the Mount. It was a special day for all that attended or volunteered.”
One of this year’s new experiences was the inaugural TEDx-style program named “Take Five!,” in which admitted students had the chance to hear from Mount professors and get a short class sample. An exciting line-up of five professors from different departments offered a five-minute talk on a topic of their expertise. Topics ranged from “What Was I Made For: Finding Your Purpose” by Robin Owens, PhD, associate professor of Religious Studies to “The Art of Apologizing” by Aloha Buenaventura, PhD, assistant professor of Psychology, and “Shifting Away from Cultural Competence” by Jessica Arzola, MPH, RN, assistant professor of nursing.
Current 国产传媒 students also participated in a panel where they shared their experiences at the Mount and offered advice to future Athenians.
The Circle and Administration Lawn was buzzing as admitted students stopped by different tables to learn more about all the resources, support services and community opportunities available. Several student clubs and organizations and departments across campus participated at this engaging event by providing information, answering questions, offering performance and giving away some fun Mount swag.
Admitted students also had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with admission and financial aid counselors and the Academic Advisement team for early advisement and class registration.
The next event for deposited students is Athenian Experience on June 20-21, an overnight, on-campus orientation experience designed to help prepare new students for their first year at the Mount.
