The Chalon and Doheny campuses were bustling the last week of August as Student Affairs launched Welcome Week to introduce students to various programs, departments and activities.
“The most important part of Welcome Week is to catch our students at the beginning of their time with us, to give them the resources needed to push them on a positive trajectory throughout their years at the Mount,” explains Christopher Barnes, director of Student Involvement and Inclusion for the Department of Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement. “It really sets them up for success from start to finish. If they have a strong start that allows them to create relationships with other students and faculty and staff alike, then they’re likely to be involved with clubs, organizations, SGA.”
“I had such an amazing time,” said Sloane Jacobs ’24, president of the Student Government Association. “I met amazing students and was able to learn about their future leadership goals. Events like this help to foster a positive environment with tight-knit community values. Leadership enhances the Mount experience and being given a space to spotlight so many amazing organizations is crucial.”
