Leezel Ramos, MEd, joined Mount Saint Mary’s as the new executive director for Career and Professional Development Services just under a year ago. Since her arrival, she has been working to expand strategic partnerships with academic departments and industry leaders from across sectors to support the career journeys of Mount students and alumnae.
"I wanted to work at an institution where the goals of caring for the whole person are not only supported, but also valued and celebrated."
A seasoned leader with over a decade of experience working in professional development in higher education, Ramos is passionate about equipping students with professional skills throughout their educational experience, both in and outside the classroom. She explains that her mission of “empowering leaders for a more just and humane world” brought her to the Mount, after having worked at a variety of universities across the west coast — including University of California, Santa Cruz, and Seattle University.
Ramos is focused on strengthening our students’ and graduates’ access to career opportunities through a wide range of programs and services. From supporting students by securing professional internships that will give them a competitive edge as they start their careers, to providing mentorship and networking opportunities with professionals and recruiters across industries, her office is dedicated to creating leadership avenues that lead to career success.
“Our Mount students and graduates are mission-driven, inspiring and talented leaders ready to make an impact. We give them the tools to jump-start their professional journeys,” says Ramos. Career and Professional Development Services is launching a year-long calendar of events and services focused on careers in business, technology and entertainment; and careers for the common good, with special emphasis in the nonprofit, government, healthcare and education sectors.
