The 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings are an important tool as students and their families begin to research their higher education options. More than 1,500 colleges and universities were ranked using up to 19 measures, including the academic quality of students, graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratios, educational resources and social mobility, as well as schools’ academic reputation, as determined by a peer assessment survey of college presidents, provosts and deans of admissions. This year's rankings placed a greater emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students, demonstrating the most significant methodological change in the rankings' history.
