As the academic year came to an end, Mount Saint Mary鈥檚 welcomed over 200 alumnae and longtime supporters to 鈥淯ne C茅l茅bration de L鈥檃miti茅 - A Celebration of Friendship,鈥� the first gathering at the Chalon Campus in over two years.

President Ann McElaney-Johnson, PhD, highlighted some significant and recent University accomplishments, including the completion of the most successful fundraising campaign in the Mount鈥檚 history, raising $132 million toward the original goal of $100 million, and the launch of the new 2021-2026 Strategic Plan, created with input from faculty, staff and students.

鈥淥ver the past two years while we were apart, we felt your love and dedication to our students and this University,鈥� she said. 鈥淵our encouragement, commitment and support buoyed us during challenging times and allowed us to continue to be unstoppable.鈥�

The President also shared that progress is being made toward the anticipated Wellness Pavilion, after the University received unanimous support on April 8 from the Los Angeles City Council to build the facility dedicated to student鈥檚 health. This will be the first major construction on the Chalon Campus in 40 years, and many donors and community members have been instrumental in the success of this project up to this point.

In order to complete the fundraising for the Pavilion, the President also announced that the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Foundation has made a generous $5 million challenge grant. All gifts made for the Wellness Pavilion over the next five years will be matched dollar for dollar, giving the University the opportunity to raise an additional $10 million toward this project.

鈥淚 am overjoyed that this community understands the connection between our students鈥� health and wellness and their academic achievement and leadership,鈥� said McElaney-Johnson. 鈥淭hank you for supporting our dreams for the Wellness Pavilion 鈥� and our dreams for our students.鈥�

The Mount community also honored Stephen Page, the 2020 Carondelet Medal recipient, who couldn鈥檛 receive the award in person two years ago because of the pandemic. Page, who served as a Trustee of the Mount for many years, has been a strong proponent and supporter for providing global experiences for Mount students.

To conclude the evening, guests had the opportunity to visit the recently updated Heritage Society and Endowed Scholarship donor walls, located inside of the Administration Building.
