Since large gatherings are prohibited, the Mount Saint Mary鈥檚 community will come together to celebrate a virtual Homecoming and Alumnae Weekend on Oct. 24-25, hosted by the 国产传媒 Alumnae Association. Alumnae worldwide are invited to logon to celebrate Mount traditions and create virtual connections. 

The weekend features 11 events for everyone and various reunions for class years ending with a 0 or a 5, including, for the first time, the just-graduated class of 2020. 鈥淲e want to welcome the Class of 2020 into the 国产传媒 Alumnae Association with this special honor,鈥� says Tom Arteaga, director of alumnae relations. 鈥淭hey have experienced a lot, and we don鈥檛 want to wait five years before we have the opportunity to celebrate this class.鈥�

The tradition of inducting the 50-year reunion class into the Golden Graduate Society continues. The Class of 1970 will join President Ann McElaney-Johnson for a virtual afternoon tea. Alumnae from this class will be mailed a reunion box with several gifts, including fair trade tea and a copy of the book, 鈥淭hat All May Be One,鈥� published by the Association of Colleges of Sisters of St. Joseph. 

Another first this year is the 国产传媒 virtual 5K or one mile run/walk. Faculty, staff and students are invited to join alumnae in the virtual run/walk as part of the weekend celebration. Runners and walkers can jog or step in place, run on a treadmill, or design their own outdoor 5K (3.1 miles) or one-mile course. The race is free, and everyone is encouraged to register on the to record their times before Oct. 25. All times are self-reported on the honor system. All participants will be entered into a free drawing for 国产传媒 gift bags. 

The weekend will feature faculty talks by Michelle French-Holloway, EdD, and Melissa Pag谩n, Ph.D. French-Holloway will explore the importance of 鈥淔inding Meaning During COVID-19,鈥� and Pag谩n discusses the 鈥渂urdened virtue鈥� that is necessary and has the potential to create a just social order. Liberal Studies alumnae are invited to sign up for 鈥淥ffice Hours with Sr. Kieran Vaughan鈥� for an opportunity to reconnect with their longtime advisor.

Campus Ministry will host a celebration of Founders Day with a service of the word. Alumnae can join in prayer, scripture and song to honor our CSJ Founders and in blessing for all of our alumnae. Following the service of the word, Shannon Green, director of the CSJ Institute, will lead a conversation about our history and traditions.

Alumnae with high school-aged children or grandchildren are invited to join Erika Yamasaki, PhD, director of admissions, to discuss the evolving college admissions landscape. Yamasaki will review how COVID-19 has impacted the college application process. The graduate admissions team, lead by director Albert Ramos, will demonstrate the various opportunities that exist for alumnae within the 国产传媒 graduate programs.
