Mount Saint Mary’s University received a silver award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for outstanding issues and crisis management. The Mount was one of two universities honored out of more than 600 entries in the category. The CASE District VII 2019 Awards of Excellence recognized the Mount’s communications strategy during the Skirball Fire, which took place in the middle of finals week and as students were preparing to return home for winter break.

The departments of Campus Security, Student Affairs, and Communications and Marketing coordinated prompt and effective efforts to inform the community through our emergency alert system, email, website and social media. This included constant real-time proactive monitoring of incoming calls, emails and messages on social media from students, parents, alums, media and neighbors.

CASE’s annual Awards of Excellence honor outstanding programs in alumni relations, fundraising, public relations, advancement services, special events, communications, and more. In previous years, the Mount has won top district honors in the categories of branding and marketing, periodical staff writing, and internal audience publications.
