Biography
Professor Roberts teaches courses in the area of international relations and comparative politics. Courses include international relations, introduction to comparative politics, the politics of developing countries, the politics of terrorism, Latin American politics, African politics, women in developing countries, U.S.-Latin American relations, international political economy, globalization and democratization, and political methodology (quantitative methods, the comparative method, and survey research).
Professor Roberts is also the Director of the International Relations Minor and the Director of the Center for Global Initiatives (global@msmu.edu).
Professor Roberts’ research interests include Latin American politics, democratization, the politics of economic reform, representation and public opinion in new democracies, and popular responses to globalization (especially from women and the informal sector).
Professor Roberts received her PhD in Political Science with areas of emphasis in International Relations and Comparative Politics from University of California, Santa Barbara; MA in Political Science, University of Tennessee; and B.A Political Science and Psychology, University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
