Biography

Dr. Chang is a tenured professor in the Department of Physical Therapy.  She also serves as the Department’s foundation science curriculum coordinator.  Dr. Chang graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a major in biology and minor in political science. She received her Master of Science and PhD in Neurobiology and Anatomy from The University of Rochester.  She is honored to be able to teach future health care providers the basic science knowledge necessary to succeed as a health care provider.  She applies her training as a molecular neuroscientist in her research on infantile epilepsy at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery.  In this role she characterizes anatomical and protein markers in various forms of pediatric epilepsy such as, hemimegalencephaly, tuberous sclerosis complex , focal cortical dysplasia, and Rasmussen encephalitis.  She is also the coordinator of the UCLA Neurosurgery BioBank and the UCLA Rare Epilepsies Brain Disease Tissue Bank (REBDTB).
