Biography

Deborah L. Lowe, PT, MSPT, MA, MTOM, PhD, L.Ac.

Dr. Lowe is a tenured professor in the department of physical therapy. She is the Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.  Dr. Lowe graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University. She received a MA in kinesiology from the University of Texas, Austin, a MSPT from Duke University, a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College, and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is a licensed physical therapist and acupuncturist.  Her clinical practice includes wellness, integrative medicine, and complementary medicine. In addition to administrative duties and teaching, she coordinates the DPT program’s clinical simulation experiences.

Dr. Lowe’s research history includes basic neuroscience, DPT student professional behaviors and characteristics, movement, posture, and stability.  Her current research focus is assessment of the physiological effects of energy healing techniques.
