Biography

Dr. Conor Smith, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist, tenure-track Assistant Professor, and Assistant Director of Clinical Training in the PsyD Program at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles. He completed his doctoral internship and postdoctoral residency at the San Francisco VAHealth Care System, specializing in integrated health psychology and behavioral medicine.

In his role as Assistant Director of Clinical Training, Dr. Smith oversees practicum training operations, cultivates partnerships with community training organizations, and supports PsyD students throughout the practicum and internship application process.

Dr. Smith’s clinical and research interests center on improving healthcare experiences for LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities, with a focus on health equity, minority stress, and quality improvement initiatives. He was the primary researcher on a mixed-methods dissertation project aimed at adapting a questionnaire to measure the minority stress experiences of LGBTQ+ people in healthcare settings.

In his clinical work, Dr. Smith primarily draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
