¹ú²ú´«Ã½

Fall 2025 introduces a new ecumenical spiritual direction certificate for working professionals who feel the invitation of the Spirit to journey with their students, employees, patients, clients, and spiritual seekers while they walk with God in their day-to-day reality. ¹ú²ú´«Ã½’s Spiritual Direction Certificate also draws from centuries-old spiritual practices that empowers individuals to an awareness of themselves created of God and in relationship with the world. Some of the issues explored in our program will be the art of Contemplative Listening, Storytelling, Mindfulness and much more. Foundational to our new program is the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet of Unifying Love and service to the Dear Neighbor. We invite you to connect with us to learn more.

Curriculum format

Monthly 1-unit modules will be facilitated by a certified spiritual director who will guide students in the exploration of life’s realities with the principles and tools that model a professional and competent spiritual director. The modules are flexible enough to accommodate people who prefer onsite or online class formats. A special feature of our certificate is the Summer Session where students will have the opportunity to engage in spiritual direction with a directee, and then review those sessions with a supervisor through the writing of verbatims and individual supervisory sessions. Each 1-unit module has 15 contact hours of instruction and connection with your spiritual director moderator. Module materials are free and will be available through hard copy and online sources.

What is spiritual direction?

The best way to describe spiritual direction is the phrase “walking with while listening deeply.” Spiritual Direction is rooted in global religious traditions. The primary focus of spiritual direction is on religious experience, not ideas or teachings of a particular institution. Our Spiritual Direction certificate will be interdisciplinary and ecumenical in scope and curriculum. A spiritual director walks with their directees, listening deeply to how God is acting in and through them.  Spiritual direction is connected to life, so it has a global vision of empowering people to affirm the presence of The Divine in all aspects of their lives.
