Clinical rotations

For the community and public health practicum clinical rotation, we place you in clinical settings with healthcare facilities in the greater Los Angeles area. We secure your spot thanks to our collaborative relationships with many Southern California healthcare entities, so you can focus on getting the most out of your education without the added stress of finding a placement on your own. While coursework is fully online, these immersive rotations take place in person and require you to have reliable transportation with the ability to travel within the greater Los Angeles area.

Public health nurse certification

After completing the required 90 hours of clinical rotations, you’ll be eligible to apply for a Public Health Nurse (PHN) certificate through the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). Earning this certificate empowers you to take on a vital role in the public health community, where you can make a lasting impact through both direct patient care and broader public health initiatives. For California RNs, this certification opens doors to new opportunities in public health and deepens their ability to serve communities. If you’re a California resident with an active RN license, the PHN certificate is your next step toward advancing your career and expanding your reach as a healthcare professional.
