MFA Student and Alumni Work
When you enroll in the MFA in Film, Television and New Media degree program at Mount Saint Mary's University, you are joining a community of students, faculty and alumni who have achieved - and are achieving - success in the industry. Many of our students secure professional positions while they're still enrolled - including internships and career roles such as Production Assistant and Post-Production Assistant.
These connections and opportunities usually stem from relationships with faculty who are currently active in the profession, mentors from the Production Workshop Experience (a three-semester experience within the degree program that models the Writing/Development, Production and Post-Production stages of professional film and television creation), guest speakers from within the industry and internships.
Our students graduate with professional relationships and the experience they need to succeed - and advance - in the field. Check out some of the work and placements of current MFA students and alumni.

"The idea of studying the art of filmmaking at an institution whose original mission was to provide a space for women to acquire knowledge and flourish captivated me. I asked myself, where better to refine and define my voice as an artist than at the gem that is Mount Saint Mary’s University, a women’s college. Being in welcoming spaces with fellow artists who can relate to, and appreciate, my lived experiences has been a tremendous boost for me. Knowledgeable professors and advisors have encouraged me to embrace the freedom to explore multiple mediums within my filmmaking process and each of those experimentations have been met with acceptance and gracious critique. In this conservatory-like atmosphere, I’ve not only blossomed as an artist and as a filmmaker, but I am also bearing fruit."
I love capturing a moment that is never going to happen again. But documentaries will allow me to tell stories that haven’t been told, and take my storytelling to a new level.
The instructors are very hands on. You can ask questions, work through things and they hit on both physically learning with equipment but also the theoretical.
