BA in English
For the Bachelor of Arts in English degree, you can select the creative writing concentration or choose to pair your English degree with other disciplines like psychology, sociology, religious studies, political science, pre-law or STEM.
English and Business Administration Joint Major
The English and Business Administration Joint Major combines the research, writing and critical thinking of liberal arts with the professional preparation of the business program. Students interested in Law can select a second major in American Studies, Philosophy or Political Science to complete the Pre-Law minor.
High School Teaching Credential
In collaboration with the Education Department, the English Subject Matter Preparation Program prepares you to teach English in secondary schools in accordance with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

In this course, you will explore the graphic novel鈥揻ocusing on how the visual and print media work together to create a unique experience for readers while dealing with weighty social issues.
This course will help develop your writing skills and tools for constructing a screenplay. We will discuss script formatting, drafting, classical screenplay structure, dramatic scene structure, rewriting and selling a script.
You will explore the literature and history of Los Angeles in this course with an emphasis on the ways national, geographic, cultural, moral, legal and ethnic boundaries blur the city鈥檚 history, mythology, texts, people and communities.
