BA in Art
The Bachelor of Arts in Art at Mount Saint Mary's University combines hands-on studio practice with the study of art history and theory. As you build proficiency in your chosen medium, you'll refine your creative voice and strengthen the conceptual foundation behind your work. Under the guidance of your professors, you’ll complete and coordinate a body of work to be exhibited in the José Drudis-Biada Art Gallery on our Chalon campus as a part of your senior capstone project.
Minor in Art
Students choosing to minor in Art gain creative ability, imaginative thinking and career versatility. Visual communication skills, conceptual thinking and adaptability combine to increase your marketability in the workforce.

Here are a few courses you may encounter during your art major at Mount Saint Mary's.
Through this dual art and chemistry course, you鈥檒l examine the science of color and its use throughout history. Explore chemical bonding, the electromagnetic spectrum and how molecules interact with light while applying this knowledge into drawing and color theory. You鈥檒l even learn how to create your own pigments.
In this hands-on studio course with specific focus on screen printing, etching, monotype, relief printing process and computer-generated halftone printing, you鈥檒l study the historical and aesthetic value of printmaking while experimenting with materials and techniques.
In this hands-on introductory studio course, you鈥檒l explore the creative possibilities of clay through foundational hand-building techniques. Experiment with coil and slab construction while developing skill in manipulating form, structure, and surface. As you create increasingly complex volumetric works, you鈥檒l build both technical proficiency and a deeper understanding of ceramic processes.
