We welcome international students to join the Mount community!

If you are considering applying as a graduate student, this is the place to start. We've provided important information about deadlines and requirements, as well as details about your next steps to enrolling.

If you do not have U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency and you are seeking or currently hold an F-1 visa for full-time study, you are considered an international student by Mount Saint Mary's University.

In addition to completing an application for admission, all international applicants must also submit:

  • Official Transcripts: 国产传媒 must receive official transcripts for all years of baccalaureate work that you have completed. Your transcript must be sent directly by your school (e.g. registrar’s office or certifying official) to 国产传媒 via email in order to be considered official. Copies emailed or uploaded by you are considered unofficial.

If your transcript is not in English, you must also obtain an official translation. The translation must be sent by directly by your institution or by the translation service.

Alternatively, you can submit a course-by-course credential evaluation via an accredited credential evaluation agency. We accept evaluations from any ; however, (formerly known as SpanTran) is our recommended credential evaluation service. You may apply for a at a discount by using our customized application.

  • English Proficiency Scores obtained within the last two years. The minimum proficiency test score requirements are:
    • TOEFL: 79 iBT
    • IELTS: Band 6.5
    • Duolingo: 100
    • PTE-A: 54

English Language Exam Exemption: Students whose native/official language is English, or for whom English was the primary language of instruction, are exempt from the English Language Exam requirement. Verification may be requested.

  • International Data and Evidence of Financial Support (IDEFS) Form: 国产传媒 requires proof of finances prior to application review. Along with this form, you will need to upload a copy of your passport and bank statements (personal or from your sponsors). Your sponsors will also be sent a Financial Affidavit via email asking them to confirm that they are your sponsor. They must respond before we can proceed.  

Bank statement(s)/letters: You must upload official bank letters or statements that meet or exceed our annual estimated cost of attendance for 2024-2025.* You can provide your own bank statement and/or upload statements from a designated financial sponsor. Anyone can serve as your financial sponsor as long as you add their name to your IDEFS Form and they respond to our Financial Affidavit email to confirm.  

    • Bank letter(s)/statements must:
      • Display the date (must be from within the last 60 days)
      • Display the full name of the account holder (yourself or your designated sponsor)
      • Be printed on bank letterhead
      • Be certified with a stamp or bank employee signature
      • Be for a checking or savings account (liquid cash assets)—investment funds CANNOT be used for proof of finances. 

Passport Copy: Upload a copy of your passport’s biographical (photo) page. If you are already in valid F-1 status (attending a U.S. high school, college/university or English program), please also upload copies of your current F-1 visa stamp, I-20 and most recent I-94 Arrival Record. 

*Please note: Our estimated cost of attendance for 2025-2026 will become available in early 2025. You may be asked to provide a newer bank letter/statement prior to I-20 issuance that meets 国产传媒’s new estimate at that time.

国产传媒’s graduate program deadlines and start terms vary by program. Please review the individual page of the program you are interested in for important dates and deadlines. If you require a new F-1 visa to enter the U.S., you are strongly encouraged to apply at least four months in advance of your chosen start term.

All international applicants are automatically considered for a Graduate Merit Scholarship – no need for a separate application. These scholarships are merit-based and competitive, and awarded at the time of admission. The availability of scholarships and the amount you are awarded will vary by program and depend on various factors, including but not limited to, the strength of your application, the relative competitiveness of the applicant pool, date of application submission and the availability of funds for the program and term to which you apply to.

Estimated annual costs of attendance, and the amount you or your sponsors need to demonstrate on the bank statements you submit, vary by program. Please contact the Graduate Admissions Office for the annual estimates cost of attendance for your program.

Once you've been accepted to Mount Saint Mary's University and submitted your Intent to Enroll Form, our DSO will review your application, IDEFS and bank statements for I-20 issuance. Your I-20 will be sent via email along with instructions to apply for your F-1 visa.

If you are a SEVIS transfer student already in the U.S., then we will coordinate with your current institution on the transfer of your SEVIS record at an appropriate date.

Our team is here to support you and answer your questions. Once you have obtained your F-1 visa, please let us know the good news! We will help you complete your pre-arrival tasks and prepare for your big move to Los Angeles. Please note that while we can issue your I-20 up to 12 months prior to your program start date, you will not be permitted to attend an F-1 visa appointment until within 120 days of your start date. Also note that F-1 students may enter the U.S. no more than 30 days before the program start date on their I-20.
