Welcome to Disability Services

Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles is committed to ensuring the full participation of all students in its programs.  Disability Services facilitates accommodations and supports for admitted students with disabilities on an individual, case-by-case basis, to ensure equal access to 国产传媒 academic programs and services.  Disability Services works with students in an individualized and interactive process that requires engagement from both the Disability Services team and the student.  Disability Services does not disclose disability-related information without student consent.

Please note that the implementation of approved accommodations may take 2-4 weeks, sometimes longer, depending on the nature of the accommodation request, supporting documentation, and appointment availability during peak times in the semester.  Approved accommodations are applied proactively rather than retroactively, so admitted students are encouraged to begin this process once they have confirmation of admission to the University.

If you are a prospective student interested in learning more about Disability Services at the Mount, you are welcome to contact us at any time at disability@msmu.edu.

How to Register

If you are an admitted or current student, see the steps below to learn how to request accommodations and documentation guidelines.

Please complete an application on myDSP found on my国产传媒 by signing in with your student credentials.

After you submit your application, you will be invited to upload current and relevant supporting disability-related documentation from a licensed health provider. Please note: your application will be held as “pending for review” until we receive your supporting documentation.

Documentation Guidelines

Documentation review is a collaborative process that is responsive to the unique experience of each individual and assists the Disability Services team to establish eligibility, understand how the disability impacts the student in an academic setting, and make informed decisions about accommodations.

Documentation must include the following information:

  • Current, relevant diagnosis of disability/health condition
  • Description of specific limitations or impact of disability/health condition in a higher education setting or housing environment
  • Indication if the disability is permanent or temporary. If temporary, include timeline for duration or re-evaluation
  • Documentation must be completed by a qualified health provider and include the following: contact information, license number, and signature

For additional information about documentation guidelines, acceptable documentation formats, or to request an 国产传媒 documentation form for your health provider, please contact disability@msmu.edu.

After we receive and review your documentation, a Disability Services team member will contact you to schedule a meeting. This meeting will be an interactive session designed to give us a narrative of your disability and to discuss your access and accommodation needs. We will review all accommodation policies and procedures as well as the next steps and responsibilities for your accommodation request. All accommodation requests are on a case-by-case basis and evaluated so that they are reasonable and do not fundamentally alter curriculum or state licensure requirements.

If you have any questions related to this process or the Disability Services application database, please contact us at disability@msmu.edu. We look forward to hearing from you!
